Health & Safety
It is the policy of Playford and Son Ltd. to carry out its activities with due regard for the health, safety and welfare of its employees, sub-contractors, contractors, clients, visitors and members of the public. Playford and Son Ltd. recognises that obligations in relation to Health, Safety and Welfare are owed wherever the Company’s activities are carried out including offices, construction sites, sites where sales are taking place and in travelling in Company vehicles.

All obligations in relation to health, safety and welfare are taken seriously by the Company and to this extent, assessment of risks to health, safety and welfare of everyone directly affected by the Company’s activities is a priority and is reflected in the policy.

The purpose of the policy is to promote a pro-active approach in the prevention of accidents, ill health, dangerous occurrences and damage to the workplace. This will be achieved, so far as is reasonably practicable by the identification of hazards, the elimination of foreseeable risk and the management of residual risk thus providing safe systems of work and compliance with all relevant Statutory Acts, Regulations and Codes of Practice.

The co-operation of those employed by the Company in ensuing the policy is effective and responsibility of each individual to take reasonable care for the health and safety of himself/herself and those who may be effected by his/her acts or omissions at work are legal obligations under Sections 7 and 8 of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. Any breach of any aspect of the Company’s Health and Safety Policy will be regarded as a serious breach of these obligations.

The Company recognises that the provision of adequate financial resources, supervision and training is essential to ensure that all staff and employees are properly able to discharge their responsibilities under this policy.

Mr. A. Tuohy is appointed as the person responsible for the co-ordination of Health, Safety and Welfare matters on behalf of the Company and will ensure the policy of the company is implemented through the normal Company Health and Safety channels. Specific duties will be devolved to other persons within the management team in order that the policy is effectively implemented.

The Company will, through specialist Health and Safety Advisors if necessary, give guidance and advice on all aspects of Health, Safety and Welfare and arrange with management for training of employees as deemed to be necessary.

Monitoring the effectiveness of the Health and Safety Policy is the responsibility of the Company Directors, who will ensure the policy is reviewed, at least annually, recommending changes when deemed necessary.

Playford and Son Ltd. will consult with employees with respect to Health Safety and Welfare in accordance with Statutory Requirements to ensure that all necessary measures are taken to make the policy effective.

All employees are reminded that they have a statutory duty to co-operate fully with their employer in compliance with their duties imposed under the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
